:: Enterprise at School ::
'Enterprise at School' initiative in Conjunction with Tipperary Institute
A new enterprise inculcating initiative designed especially for second level schools in North Tipperary. The enterprise education programme is ideal for transition year, LCVP link module and leaving cert applied students and should be viewed as complimentary to other CEB initiatives such as Student Enterprise Awards, Enterprise Encounter etc. It encompasses six on-site lectures of double-class duration (1.5 hours) delivered by Tipperary Institute on behalf of the Tipperary North County Enterprise Board Ltd. over the school academic year.
Cost to participating school: Nil (the programme is funded in its entirety by the Tipperary North County Enterprise Board Ltd.). Each assignment will be invoiced directly to the Board.

Procedure: Following approval an instruction will issue to the Institute to proceed with the five lecture assignment and a letter of offer will issue simultaneously to the participating school. Assignments must be approved by the Tipperary North County Enterprise Board Ltd. in advance.
Delivery: Post approval the participating school is free to make their own arrangements pertaining to dates, times etc. with Tipperary Institute, Business Development Division c/o Ms. Moya Breen, Director at 0504-28150.
Course materials: All notes and reading materials will be provided by Tipperary Institute.
Content: Session 1. Enterprise Introduction - Characteristics / profiles of successful entrepreneurs.
Session 2. Idea Generation - Brainstorming of new products and services.
Session 3. Market Research – Secondary sources of information / primary market research / market size.
Session 4. Finance – Business Plan / costing new product / cashflows / breakeven point.
Session 5. New Product Launch – Idea / product presentation / prototype / exhibition etc.
Session 6. Effective Communication and report writing.
Enterprise Studies is a third year subject for Diploma and Degree Awards at Tipperary Institute. There are a number of Programme Specialists at the Institute who lecture on the topic of entrepreneurship/business and this new initiative will be delivered by a number of relevant specialists.
The enterprise studies programme will be altered and adopted specifically to meet the needs of a younger second level audience.
Learning Objectives The Enterprise Awareness Programme introduces students to:
- The concept of entrepreneurship in a practical and self-reflective manner.
- Brainstorming as a key tool to problem solving and idea generation for the entrepreneur.
- Market Research as a tool to investigate the feasibility of enterprise ideas.
- The Business Plan as a key management tool.
- The Product Launch process.
- Report writing and effective communication skills.
