The Tipperary North County Enterprise Board are involved and offer a number of initiatives for schools in the local area. The list below briefly describes each one. Click a link to find out more about that project.
Enterprise Day Enterprise Day is an initiative which incorporates presentations, group workshops and networking in an effort to achieve the overall objective of instilling an enterprise culture in students. Students are given the opportunity to engage with national high profile entrepreneurs as well as a number of well known local business people. The event involves presentations and workshops on topics such as idea generation, developing your potential, sales, marketing & communication. Students get the opportunity to interact with fellow students and young entrepreneurs and a networking opportunity.
Enterprise Encounter Enterprise Encounter is a programme which brings Leaving Certificate students into direct contact with local entrepreneurs. The aim is to give students an insight into what is required to set up and run a business and to plant a seed of enterprise in their minds. Enterprise Encounter is a joint initiative of City and County Enterprise Boards and the Second Level Support Service of the Department of Education and Science. >>Click here to read more
Student Enterprise Awards The Student Enterprise Awards was introduced in the 2002/03 academic year and culminated with a very successful National Final held in Tullamore on 11th May 2003. The Awards Programme will continue to offer students the opportunity to take a business from the idea stage, through market research to production, selling, record keeping, management and finally writing a comprehensive report on their activities.
County Competition Prize Fund The Tipperary North County Enterprise Board set aside a generous prize fund for the 2008/2009 competition. The winning School in the categories of Senior, Intermediate and Junior will each receive a perpetual plaque and the winning entries will receive a framed certificate. All participating students receive a certificate at the discretion of their School Principal. >>Click here to read more
Enterprise at School A new enterprise inculcating initiative designed especially for second level schools in North Tipperary. The enterprise education programme is ideal for transition year, LCVP link module and leaving cert applied students and should be viewed as complimentary to other CEB initiatives such as Student Enterprise Awards, Enterprise Encounter etc. It encompasses six on-site lectures of double-class duration (1.5 hours) delivered by Tipperary Institute on behalf of the Tipperary North County Enterprise Board Ltd. over the school academic year. >>Click here to read more
Primary Schools - Interview with an Entrepreneur In pursuit of their objective to further link enterprise with education and to cultivate an even stronger enterprise culture in the County, the Board designed this competition for North Tipperary’s primary school students in 2006. Students are required to identify and interview a local entrepreneur/ successful business person. Based on this interview, students produce a report documenting the story of the entrepreneur and detailing their experience in starting their own business. Entries have to be original with the Entrepreneur coming from the local area.
Bí Gnóthach Bí Gnóthach is a cross-curricular programme on enterprise education, designed by the Curriculum Development Unit in Mary Immaculate College, Limerick for 10 – 12 year old Irish children. It is also suitable for older children in special school settings. >>Click here to read more
